We like #4's', 5's or 6's travelin' around 1500fps ran through the SWAT 12 (Wad Wizard choke tube) for decoy work... hit's 'em like a swarm of bee's. And then we like #3's or 4's travelin' around 1500fps ran through the Supreme (Wad Wizard choke tube) when they're a little shy. Winchester Supreme's, Federal Premium's, Kent FastSteel or cooter's "roll yer own's" is what I've been shooting the past several years... life is too short to shoot a cheap shell that preforms miserably and has horrible ballistic's.

[QUOTE=FastDuckMotors;112924]3" #4's Federal Black Clouds works for everything!! They would if only you could hit them....remember I have seen you shoot at these little slow moving quail. |

I shoot Reloaded Shells, and still shooting 3 1/2" - 1 3/8oz - #5's - 1580fps The 3 1/2" may be over kill, but guiding, we do a lot of finsh shots for clients that just wobble ducks. Gives me more pellets in the pattern, denser patterns, which leads to more hits on a targets. Also, on the occasion that we get a few geese to decoy, it will still do the trick. If I were buying shells, it would be 3" - #4 - 1 1/8oz - with 1500-1600fps. cooter

I am using the 3" #3s Kent this year. For the last six years I have used the Winchester Super X Drylok. #2s & #3s for Wood Ducks and #4s for Teal. #2s definitely offer more stopping power the 3" shells work great 3 1/2 are not necessary. #4s are plenty for most ducks. Consider the size bird and velocity you prefer. I chose the #3s for overal versatility on various birds with plenty of velocity from the Kent FastSteel. |

Kent 3" 3's over the blocks. 4's would prolly suffice but i want 'em stone dead! I'll switch to 2's when the wind is kickin over 20. The Kent's do a sufficient job and don't put the wallet in a headlock. However, if I had a money tree growin in the backyard you can bet I'd be locked and loaded with Hevi-shot 5's

yeah, i dont really want to pay for the hevis. about 4 years ago, i bought 20 boxes of #5 bismuth. i shot the last of them last year. man, they were nice! you could definitly tell when you missed a duck and when you hit the duck. if you missed, it flew away. if you hit it, it died! i bought a few boxes of kent 3" #3's and i will see how they do. if i dont like them, i guess i will fork over the money for the hevis.

I shot a single shot one time...only one time!! They are a part of gun history and I think they are fun to shoot. I have an uncle (inlaw) who had the BPS 10 and it held a pattern like you would not believe. There were even a couple of guys who hunted deer with one. I don't know how they stood and held the thing all day but they also killed deer with them too. I imagine you could reload them, Have you looked around on some of the sites like Midway that do reloading and what not?

Yes Sid I have, but the Loading Data for steel in paper cases is non existent so if anyone is interested in environmentally friendly paper cases I have approx 50 each of Western 10 Ga 3.5" super-X PAPER and Remingtom Kleenbore 3.5 inch PAPER once fired cases for sale. I only use the 10 for late season Blacks and Geese and we are restricted to steel shot. I like the BPS it handles and works flawlessly and I don't mind the kick after all I'm such a good shot that I limit out with one shot per bird ...... lol!!!!!!!!! PS: I also use a 300 win mag and 375 H&H mag regularly and have fired them all full load with one hand.
