    Name of Product: Kydex Belt Holsters for Glock model handguns

    Units: About 8,000

    Manufacturer: Michaels of Oregon, of Oregon City, Ore.

    Hazard: The holster's retention strap can move out of position and could
    cause a handgun to unexpectedly discharge while being reholstered,
    posing a serious injury risk to consumers.

    Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received three reports of unexpected
    discharges. In one incident, a law enforcement officer was shot in the
    leg while reholstering his firearm.

    Description: The recall includes Kydex Belt and Tactical Holsters with
    thumb break fits for Glock model handguns. The holsters are rigid and
    are made of black Kydex and come with tension screws for a proper fit.
    The words, "Uncle Mike's by Michaels of Oregon" are printed on the back
    of the holster. The recall involves sizes 12, 21, and 25, which is
    printed on the inside of the holster between the two screws securing the
    holster to the belt slide.

    Sold through: Uncle Mike's and Uncle Mike's Law Enforcement catalogs and
    at sporting goods stores and gun supply stores nationwide from January
    2002 through October 2002 for between $25 and $50.

    Manufactured in: United States

    Remedy: Consumers who have purchased a Kydex Holster with a Thumb break
    for a Glock Handgun should stop using it immediately and contact
    Michaels of Oregon for a replacement retention strap free of charge.

    Name of Product: Superfuel Liquid Fuel

    Units: About 8,500

    Manufacturer: Cascade Designs Inc., of Seattle Wash.

    Hazard: A manufacturing defect in the can's seam and an insufficiently applied
    fuel cap can cause the can to leak fuel posing a fire hazard.

    Incidents/Injuries: No incidents or injuries have been reported. However, CPSC
    and Cascade Designs discovered and subsequently investigated forty-one leaking
    cans found in Cascade's distribution center.

    Description: The recalled fuel is used for outdoor cooking stoves. "MSRŪ
    SuperFuel(tm)" is printed on the label and is packaged in red metal cans.
    "SUPERFUEL, MSR Cleanest-Burning Liquid Fuel for MSR Stoves," and "32 FL OZ/1
    Quart/.946 Liter" are printed across the front of the can. This recall includes
    cans with batch #502-167 printed on the lower back of the can in light black
    digits.

    Sold At: Sporting good stores sold the stove fuel nationwide from March 2005
    through April 2005 for about $9.

    Manufactured in: United States

    Remedy: (1) Consumers should immediately check their stove fuel cans for leaks.
    If the can is leaking, consumers should move it to a location where there are no
    ignition sources and then transfer the fuel to an approved fuel container. (2)
    Consumers should contact Cascade Designs Inc. to receive a replacement fuel
    container and funnel.

    Name of Product: Fire Stick Multi-Purpose Lighters

    Units: About 36,000

    Manufacturer: Aristo Home and Garden, of West Deptford, N.J.

    Hazard: The lighters fail to meet federal safety standards because they
    lack child-resistant mechanisms. If young children gain access to these
    multi-purpose lighters, they can pose a fire hazard or burn risk.

    Incidents/Injuries: Aristo has not received any reports of incidents or
    injuries involving the Fire Stick lighters.

    Description: These refillable, butane-fueled lighters are silver in
    color with a black sliding switch at the middle of the product. Two
    models of the lighters are included in this recall: a 7-inch model
    (model number 324007) and a 12-inch model (model number 324012). "Aristo
    Home & Garden" and "Fire Stick" are printed on the products' original
    packaging.

    Sold Through: Home and garden retail outlets nationwide from November
    2002 through October 2004. The 7-inch models were sold for $10, and the
    12-inch models were sold for $20.

    Manufactured in: China

    Remedy: Consumers should stop using these lighters immediately and
    return them to their place of purchase for a full refund.

    Name of Product: Children's Fishing Kits

    Units: About 438,000

    Distributor: Shakespeare Fishing Tackle Division, of Columbia, S.C.

    Hazard: The paint on the rods of these fishing poles contains lead.
    Lead
    is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health
    effects.

    Incidents/Injuries: The firm has not received any reports of complaints
    related to this product. This voluntary recall is being conducted to
    prevent any possibility of injury or illness.

    Description: The recalled Shakespeare(r) brand fishing kits feature the
    following characters: TAZ(r) (Tazmanian Devil(r)), Tweety(r), Mucha
    Lucha(r) and Spider-Man(r). Other fishing kits feature Fishing
    Heroes(tm), sold with a silver-colored badge; Kids Kits(tm), sold with
    tackle boxes; and Shark(tm) and Dolphin(tm) Kits, which have reels in
    the shape of a shark or dolphin. The fishing kits have brightly colored
    red and yellow fishing rods, and "Shakespeare" is written on the reels.
    Fishing kits with purple, blue and pink rods are not included in this
    recall. Certain translucent red and yellow and metallic-colored red
    rods
    also are not included in this recall.

    Sold at: Discount department, sporting good and toy stores nationwide
    from August 2001 through June 2005 for between $9 and $13.

    WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in

    Name of Product: DeWALT Model D55143 Three-Gallon Hand-Carry Oil Free
    Air Compressor.

    Units: About 185 units.

    Manufacturer: DeWALT Industrial Tool Company, Baltimore, Md.

    Hazard: Due to a wiring insulation defect, the unit may pose a possible
    shock hazard.

    Incidents/Injuries: No injuries reported.

    Description: Only DeWALT D55143 three-gallon hand-carry oil free air
    compressors with the following date codes: 200448, 200453, 200502
    through 200505, 200508, and 200509 are included in the recall. The date
    code is printed on the name plate on the rear air tank of the unit.
    Units marked with an "R" on the end cap of the unit are not included in
    this recall.

    Sold At: Home center and hardware stores nationwide from January 2005
    through April 2005 for about $250.

    Name of Product: Ameristep Hang-on Treestands.

    Units: About 480.

    Manufacturer: Tahsin Industrial Corp. USA, of Randolph, N.J.

    Hazard: The treestand's bracket can bend if not secured properly by a
    chain and if weight is applied. This can cause the chain to disengage
    from the stand, the stand to separate from the tree and the user to fall
    and suffer serious injuries.

    Incidents/Injuries: Tahsin received one report in which a person fell
    from an unknown elevation while using the treestand.

    Description: The recalled treestand is the Ameristep Model 9203 Hang-on
    of the Grizzly Treestand Line. The product is a steel fixed-position
    treestand that uses a steel chain for attachment to trees and has a
    camouflage-covered seat.

    Sold At: Kame's Sports Center, Kentucky Lake Outdoors, Sportsmen Center,
    and North Sylva Company stores nationwide from July 2004 through June
    2005 for between $36 and $50.

    Manufactured in: China.

    Remedy: Consumers should stop using the treestand immediately and
    contact Ameristep Customer Service or any of the retailers to receive
    information on properly setting up the unit.

    Name of Product: All-terrain vehicle (ATV) 9-inch wheels, with aluminum
    center section

    Units: About 875

    Manufacturer: HiPer Technology Inc., of Lawrence, Kan.

    Hazard: The aluminum center section of the wheel can come apart causing
    the tire and rim to unexpectedly separate from the ATV, posing a risk of
    serious injury if the rider loses control of the vehicle.

    Incidents/Injuries: HiPer has 12 reports of wheel center section
    breakage and separation.

    Description: The recalled 9-inch ATV aftermarket rear wheels have a
    model number of 0990 YHR. The rear wheels were manufactured from
    February 15, 2005 through May 2005. The recalled wheel can be used as
    the rear wheel on ATVs having the following bolt patterns: four bolts on
    a 110mm circle or four bolts on a 115mm circle. The center section of
    the wheel is made of aluminum and has eight bolt holes.

    Sold at: ATV dealers and HiPer Technology sold the wheels from February
    2005 through May 2005 for about $190.

    Manufactured in: United States.

    Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the 9-inch ATV wheels

    Name of Product: Kawasaki Model Year 2001-2005 Prairie and Brute Force
    All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs)

    Units: About 155,000

    Distributor: Kawasaki Motors Corp. U.S.A., of Irvine, Calif.

    Hazard: A significant impact to the front wheel of the ATV while the
    steering is fully turned to either side can result in suspension damage,
    wear, and an eventual loss of steering control that could result in
    injury or death.

    Note: Kawasaki previously recalled the Prairie 700 4x4 in March 2005
    because the age recommendation warning label was missing.

    Incidents/Injuries: Kawasaki has received 42 reports of ball joint
    separation which could result in loss of steering control. Three
    injuries have been reported.

    Description: The recall includes 2001 through 2005 Prairie and Brute
    Force Kawasaki ATVs. The following Kawasaki ATV models are included in
    this recall: Prairie 300, Prairie 300 4x4, Prairie 360, Prairie 360 4x4,
    Prairie 400, Prairie 400 4x4, Prairie 650 4x4, Prairie 700 4x4, and
    Brute Force 650 4x4. The model numbers can be found on the
    identification label located on the frame of the ATV. "Prairie" or
    "Brute Force" is printed on each side of the vehicle's gas tank.

    Sold at: Kawasaki dealers nationwide from August 2000 through July 2005
    for between $4,400 and $7,400.

    Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled ATVs immediately and

    Hazard: The flywheels on some of the chain saws can come apart during
    use, which could cause serious personal injury.

    Incidents/Injuries: Makita has received three reports of the flywheel
    coming apart. There have been no reports of injury.

    Description: The recall involves Makita DCS6401 and DCS7901-model chain
    saws in which the last five digits of the serial numbers are within the
    following ranges:

    DCS6401: 41915 through 45612, 81722 through 82057
    DCS7901: 31182 through 31491

    The chain saw's housing is teal with the name "Makita" written on it.
    The chain saw's serial number can be found on the right hand side of the
    silver nameplate which is located on the back of the fuel tank. No other
    Makita chain saws are involved in the recall. Any DCS6401 or DCS7901
    chain saws with the letter "N" preceding the serial number on the
    nameplate and a blue dot on the shipping carton have been repaired and
    are not involved in the recall.

    Sold at: Outdoor power equipment distributors and industrial contractor
    supply houses nationwide sold these chain saws from October 2004 through
    August 2005 for between $520 and $730.

    Remedy: Consumers should stop using these recalled chain saws

    WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announces
    the following recalls in voluntary cooperation with the firms listed
    below. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless
    otherwise instructed.

    Name of Product: Brinkmann-brand and Charmglow-brand Gas Grills
    manufactured by Brinkmann

    Units: About 130,000

    Grill Manufacturer: The Brinkmann Corporation, of Dallas, Texas

    Regulator Manufacturer: Zhonghshan GDA Gas Valve Co. Ltd., of China

    Hazard: The regulators on these gas grills, the component that controls
    the amount of gas released to the burner, could leak gas when attached
    to certain liquid propane tanks. This poses a risk of fire and burn
    injuries.

    Incidents/Injuries: The Brinkmann Corporation has received two reports
    of a small flame reportedly due to gas leaking at or near the propane
    cylinder. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

    Description: The recall involves Brinkmann-brand and Charmglow-brand gas
    grills. The regulator is attached to the side of the grills. Only grills
    that have regulators with the name "GDA" are affected by this recall.
    The grills have three to six burners and the name "Brinkmann" or
    "Charmglow" on the lid.

    Sold at: Home centers, sporting goods and hardware stores nationwide
    from January 2005 through September 2005 for between $150 and $900.

    Manufactured in: China

    Remedy: Consumers with grills that have the "GDA" regulator should
    contact Brinkmann to receive a free repair kit or replacement hose
    regulator assembly.

    WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in
    cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary
    recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using
    recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

    Name of Product: Makita 7-inch Angle Grinder

    Units: About 1,500

    Distributor: Makita U.S.A. Inc., of La Mirada, Calif.

    Hazard: The guards on some of these angle grinders will not fully cover
    a hubbed grinding wheel. As a result, if the hubbed grinding wheel comes
    apart during use, it could hit the user, possibly causing serious
    personal injury.

    Incidents/Injuries: Makita has not received any reports of incidents or
    injury.

    Description: The recall only involves Makita GA7011C 7-inch angle
    grinders. The grinder's model number and serial number are located on
    the silver nameplate which is located above the trigger switch. The last
    four digits of the serial numbers of the recalled grinders are in the
    following ranges:

    The grinder's housing is blue and the name "Makita" appears in large
    white letters on the housing. No other Makita grinders are involved in
    the recall.
    Sold at: Industrial suppliers and home centers from about July 2005
    through September 2005 for about $179.

    Manufactured In: China

    Remedy: Consumers with these angle grinders should stop using them with
    a hubbed grinding wheel immediately and contact Makita to arrange for a
    replacement of their guard free of charge. Known purchasers were sent
    direct mail notification of this recall.

    WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation
    with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following
    consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately
    unless otherwise instructed.

    Name of Product: Auto Safety Kit, Auto Aid in a Bottle, Winter Safety Kit, and
    Outdoorsman in a Bottle

    Units: About 4,100

    Distributor: L.L. Bean, of Freeport, Maine

    Hazard: The products have a flashlight that relies on a powerful magnet and
    copper coil for manual recharging. The magnet adversely affects the polarity of
    the compass rendering it unreliable. The magnet could be powerful enough to
    disrupt a heart patient's Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator (ICD). The product's
    packaging lacks appropriate warning information.

    Incidents/Injuries: There have been no reported incidents or injuries.

    Description: Each kit contains a variety of safety equipment including a
    "Forever Flashlight," which does not use batteries. Shaking the flashlight for
    30 seconds provides about 5 minutes of light. The Outdoorsman in a Bottle kit
    contains a compass. Other items which could be included in the kits include
    gloves, a blanket, emergency vest, a water bottle, a rain poncho and a knife.
    L.L. Bean is written on the bottle or blanket with these kits.

    Sold by: L.L. Bean's stores, catalogs and Web sites sold these kits from August
    2005 through November 2005 for between $20 and $60.

    Manufactured in: United States

    Remedy: Consumers with recalled kits should contact L.L. Bean immediately to
    receive a free warning label for the flashlight. Consumers with Outdoorsman in a
    Bottle kits will receive a free replacement compass/whistle.

    Leaf Blowers Sold at Home Depot Recalled for Laceration Hazard

    WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in

    recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

    Name of Product: Homelite Vac Attack II Blower

    Units: About 1,550

    Importer: Homelite Consumer Products Inc., of Anderson, S.C.

    Hazard: The blowers are missing the doors covering the vacuum inlet.
    This exposes the blower's fan blade, posing a risk of finger laceration
    to the user.

    Incidents/Injuries: No incidents or injuries have been reported.

    Description: The recalled blower is used outside to blow, vacuum or
    mulch leaves. "Homelite" is printed on the top of the blower. The blower
    is red with a black nozzle, and weighs about 10 lbs. Model number
    UT08542 or UT08542A is printed on the operator's manual. Only blowers
    missing the black cover over the fan are included in the recall.
    "Homelite" and "Vac Attack II" are written on the fan cover. A bag
    connects to the blower to collect the leaves or mulch.

    Sold at: Home Depot stores nationwide from September 2005 through
    November 2005 for about $99.

    Manufactured in: China

    Remedy: Consumers should stop using these blowers immediately and return
    them to a Home Depot store for a new blower or a full refund.

    Tecumseh Engines Used on Various Power Equipment Recalled Due to Fire
    Hazard

    WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in
    cooperation with the manufacturers of the brands named below, today
    announced voluntary recalls of the following consumer products.
    Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless
    otherwise instructed.

    Name of Product: Tecumseh Engines used in various Two-Stage Snow
    Throwers, Ice Augers, Generators, Lawn Mowers, Weed Trimmers, Log
    Splitters and Fun-Karts.

    Units: About 170,000 engines used on various products

    Manufacturer: Tecumseh Power Co., Grafton, Wis.

    Hazard: The fuel line on these engines can become loose or disconnected,
    resulting in a fuel leak. This can pose a fire hazard to consumers.

    Incidents/Injuries: Tecumseh has received 235 reports of disconnected
    fuel lines, including two reports of a fire. There have been no reports
    of injury. The firm has received 39 reports of minor damage, totaling
    about $44,000.

    Description: The recall includes power equipment with Tecumseh engines
    listed below. The engine model number and date of manufacture (DOM)
    information is located on a label on the side of the housing. The
    recalled engines have a date of manufacture code (DOM) that starts with
    05241 to 05286. The label on the engine reads, "Tecumseh Power Company,"
    and in addition to the Model and DOM information, lists the Spec number
    needed for identification.

    Name of Product: RedMax Gas-Powered Backpack Blowers

    Units: About 170,000

    Importer: Komatsu Zenoah America, doing business as RedMax, of Norcross,
    Ga.

    Hazard: The muffler support bracket can break, creating an opening in
    the muffler body. Hot exhaust gases can then escape from the muffler and
    could melt the fuel tank or ignite grease, oil or debris around the fuel
    tank, posing a fire hazard.

    Incidents/Injuries: RedMax has received five reports of units that have
    caught fire when hot exhaust gases from damaged mufflers ignited grease,
    oil or debris around the area of the fuel tank. No injuries have been
    reported.

    Description: The RedMax gasoline-powered backpack blowers are red and
    black with a white fuel tank. Model numbers EB6200, EB7000, EB7001, and
    EB7001RH can be found on the body of the blowers along with "RedMax,"
    "Zenoah," and "Komatsu."

    Sold by: RedMax dealers nationwide from December 1996 through December
    2005 for about $530

    Manufactured In: Japan and Georgia

    Remedy: Consumers should stop using the backpack blowers immediately and
    contact RedMax for a dealer location nearest to them to schedule a free
    inspection and a free repair if necessary. Consumers who have registered

    Hunting Tree Stands Recalled for Collapse Hazard

    Hazard: The j-hook attachment of the tree strap can fail, which can cause the

    Description: The recall involves two models of tree stands: the Ameristep

    stands. The UPC number of the model 7300 is 769524703001. The UPC number of
    model 7310 is 769524703100. The model number and UPC are not written on the tree
    stands, but can be found on the packaging.
