Dog training Tips
Posted On 08/19/2008 17:06:05 by FastDuckMotors

I have not been training dogs for very long but the biggest thing that I have learned is to teach them basic obediance commands, such as sit, stay, come and getting them to listen to you. You can start this when  they are very young. You can also teach them to respond to a whistle as early as 4 months, sometimes even earlier. THe  biggest thing is repetitive behavior training and going through what you want them to do. Just as children of your own they have to be taught and shown what to do, you cannot expect them to know what you mean at an early age. I hope to keep a running blog for my 7yr old son who is wanting his own lab. My goal is to start a lab from a pup stage and hopefully bring him to a stage where he is a great hunting companion. We are going to have very experienced dog trainers on the site as well and I hope to learn from them as well. I am not an experienced trainer by any means I have trained one black lab and she is no longer with me and my son has the fire now to own his own dog now. I look forward to bringing pictures and reports.
