Make sure you have quailty gear, i.e. a good coat, gloves, socks, hat, waders, etc. There is nothin' more miserable than gettin' out there & bein' wet & cold, especially if it's a duck weather kind of day. Don't settle for "hand-me-downs" or "good enough".... get the real stuff. Your time in the blind will be much more enjoyable because you will be warm & dry. Shoot a gun that fits YOU. Here's the deal... we buy licenses, stamps, permits, pay taxes, participate in various conservation org's etc. which is all $$$ to support our hunting areas, refuges, breedin' population, research, staff, etc. And trust me, we don't mind payin' our fair share 'cause we're goin' & we're gonna get our's. Scoutin' is a big part of what we do. Some years we have alot of water & some years we don't... this is Texas so we're very dependant on the water level. All but one of our lakes are man made reseviors built by the Army Corps of Engineer's & controlled by some River Authority/Water District & they get to make the rules & they're not to concerned with having enough water in the lake to help a few duck hunters out.
